Whats in my garden

Hi there

Well it seems to have been sometime since I last wrote a post about
what I am up too

Before the rain came today I was out in the garden picking my veg.

First a photo of the greenhouse with tomatoes

A box of picked veg

NOW what to do with all those beans

The same as I did yesterday make Bean Chutney

so here if you are interested is the recipe

1 kilo Green beans
4 shallots ( I use onions - say 2 whole onions)
1 clove garlic (if you dont like it leave it out)
1 teaspoon root ginger
675 grams dark brown sugar ( or use what you have)
1 tablespoon tumeric
1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard ( I use English as I have that in the store cupboard)
1.5 tablespoon Cornflour
850 ml Vinager

Easy

Cook beans and onions / shallots together till tender

Drain - Course chop

Add back to pan beans, garlic, ginger, sugar 700 ml vinegar

Boil for 15 mins

Mix rest of vinegar with tumeric, mustard, cornflour

Pour mix into beans

Stir and boil for 15 mins

Cool and then put in jars.

this makes around 5   1lb jars of chutney  and lasts ages. In fact it gets better with age.

So if you have too many beans it is a good way to use them up. I tried to sell bags of
beans at the Village Hall coffee morning this week but no one wanted them. Their loss my gain.

I have had so many beans I am over run with them.

And Marrows too. But those will be used next to make Marrow Jam.

Anyway I hope you are having a good day and I will be back again soon.

Busy with needlework, sewing and card making.

I have just found a new needlework hobby Redwork - I am finding it so
relaxing to do in the evenings or watching TV.

Hope to show you something soon.

So always busy

  3. I can't seem to find a good place to make a veggie garden, so I only grow herbs in pots. I really LOVE your greenhouse. The beans look fabulous, and the beautiful tomatoes, do too.

  4. A friend brought me a basket of her veggies on Monday. Nothing like veggies grown with love straight from the garden. Your greenhouse looks great. Barbxx

  5. A very productive garden-we haven't grown any beans this year the first for a long time-we have a good crop of tomatoes and beetroot though and eggs from the chickens too
